Explorer Scouts are young people, aged between 14 and 18 years old. They make up the fourth Section of the Scouting family.

You don’t have to have any history with scouting, all you need is a sense of adventure and to be prepared for a lots fun filled challenges. The Explorer section will be unlike anything you have ever experienced before, with new practical knowledge and skills learnt every week. You will make new friends, go to new places, and learn new games and skills. You may even have opportunities to travel to foreign countries. The possibilities are endless and along the way Scouting will help you to enjoy the world, and get more out of life.

The opportunities available to you as an Explorer Scout are limitless. But places are limited so grab these opportunities while you can! Over 28 million people like you have taken the Scout Promise and are currently enjoying the Scouting experience as Explorers.

As an Explorer you can do your Duke of Edinburgh Award. This is a registered charity, a voluntary, non-competitive programme of activities for anyone aged 14-25. It offers an individual challenge and encourages us as young people to undertake exciting, constructive, challenging and enjoyable activities in our free time. Just over 70% of those in the UK aged 14- 25 participate in the Award and it can go on your CV.

The Puxty Explorer unit that meets at the hut 8.00 – 9.30pm every Monday

What to join? Let us know!

Not all Explorer Scout Units meet every week, although many will take part in activities at the weekend. As an Explorer Scout, you will get the chance to work with other Explorer Scouts in your District and County, not just your Unit. By doing this, you will get the chance to do many more activities, not just the ones your Unit organises.
